About

Prayer times in Morocco are officially calculated by the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs following the Maliki school of jurisprudence, based on the sun's position in each specific city. The five obligatory daily prayers are Fajr at dawn, Dhuhr at noon, Asr in mid-afternoon, Maghrib at sunset, and Isha after nightfall. Times vary with latitude and season: Tangier usually prays a few minutes before Casablanca, while Laayoune and Dakhla in the south show more noticeable shifts. This page provides daily Morocco prayer times for major cities including Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Fez, Tangier, Agadir, Meknes, Oujda, Tetouan and Laayoune, updated automatically every day. You will also find the Shourouk (sunrise) time, which is particularly useful during Ramadan for Fajr and Iftar timing.

About Prayer Time Calculations

How Times Are Calculated

Prayer times are computed using precise astronomical equations from the book Astronomical Algorithms by Jean Meeus, based on the sun's position relative to your city's coordinates.

Calculation Method

We use the Muslim World League method, which is widely used across Morocco and North Africa. Fajr angle is 18 degrees and Isha angle is 17 degrees.

The Five Daily Prayers

Muslims pray five times daily: Fajr (pre-dawn), Dhuhr (midday), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (night). Sunrise is shown for reference but is not a prayer time.

Accuracy

Calculations are based on your city's geographic coordinates and the current date. Actual times may differ by 1-2 minutes from your local mosque, which may use different methods or manual adjustments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What calculation method is used?

We use the Muslim World League (MWL) method, which is the most commonly used in Morocco and North Africa. It uses a Fajr angle of 18 degrees and an Isha angle of 17 degrees.

Why are the times different from my mosque?

Local mosques may use slightly different calculation methods, manual adjustments, or different reference points. Our times are based on astronomical calculations for your city's exact coordinates.

Do prayer times change daily?

Yes. Prayer times are based on the sun's position, which changes slightly every day. The biggest variations occur around the solstices (June and December).

Which cities are supported?

We support 20 major Moroccan cities including Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Fes, Tangier, Agadir, and more. Each city uses its exact GPS coordinates for precise calculations.
